      CMC #17

      BNS-Racing sponsored Camaro-Mustang Challenge 89LX

      Week 1  Week 2 Week 3 Week 4 Week 5 Week 6

      Week 5 (June 8 - June 14)

      08 June 2003

The front bumper trim has been painted. This does it for the exterior painting. The only thing left to paint is the door jams and underneath the hood.

      09 June 2003

This is the before shot underneath the hood. I plan on touching things up a bit and making it look good. I know that won't make it go faster, but at least for right now, it will look presentable.

Time to get CMC17 to a dyno this coming weekend. I hope to see some good numbers that only need a little tweaking. Any bets on numbers?

      10 June 2003

Time to start tearing out the front suspension. With power tools, this job is a snap. I had the front suspension (left and right) totally disassembled in an hour. I will be cleaning and detailing both side tomorrow. But, it doesn't look too bad as it sits right now. Can't wait to get the suspension goodies in and installed.

Looks strange without any of the front suspension components

      11 June 2003

The evening was spent getting the car up in the air and surveying the rear suspension. Once the parts arrive, I should be able to get the rear and front done in one day. However, I do plan on removing the rear axle assembly and components to do some cleaning and checking for trouble areas. Now is the time to repair those areas.

Now will also be a good time to check the tranny fluid, torque boxes, leaks and lines. Until tomorrow.....

      12/13 June 2003

Ok, it's tomorrow and I haven't done diddly on CMC#17  (booooo...booooo) Ok, easy now. I've had a few other things to do and haven't had a lot of time (free) to work on it. I'm actually waiting on some more parts to arrive next week. But, I do have some more to do this weekend in preparation for those parts.

      14 June 2003

Time to tackle welding the seat support bracket. I rented a wire-feed welder from Home-Depot and was off to try my hand at welding. Being an avid Monster Garage fanatic, I felt like I could pull this off and actually make it count. Ok, before anyone gets scared that my car will fall apart at the track, I made sure to practice on some scrap metal before attempting the seat bracket.

I also fixed a hole in the floor-pan that had torn through (cause unknown)

Before doing the suspension work, I decided to go ahead and install the two Autometer gauges that I had on the shelf. Oil pressure and Water temperature gauges are it!
